Online Privacy Policy

This Online Privacy Policy is separate from Superior Choice Credit Union’s GLBA Privacy Notice. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information gathered through your use of this website — including through cookies, analytics, and similar tracking technologies. It does not describe, and does not replace, how we handle the nonpublic personal information you share with us as a credit union member, such as your account, transaction, and credit information — that is governed exclusively by our GLBA Privacy Notice. Where the two policies overlap, the GLBA Privacy Notice controls how we handle your member financial information, and this Online Privacy Policy controls how we handle general website usage data.

1. Tracking Tools and Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the site, understand how it’s used, and measure the performance of our advertising. Here’s what we use and what each collects:

Strictly necessary cookies

Required for the site to function — session management, security, load balancing, and remembering choices you’ve made (like cookie preferences). These cannot be disabled without affecting how the site works.

Analytics: Google Analytics (GA4)

Collects information about how visitors use this site — pages viewed, time on page, referring website, general location (city/region level), device and browser type, and approximate demographic and interest data supplied by Google. We use this data in aggregate to understand site performance; it is not used to identify individual members or account activity.

Advertising: Google Ads and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel

Used to measure the performance of our online advertising and to show relevant ads to people who have visited this site. These tools may collect your IP address, device identifiers, pages viewed, and actions taken on non-account pages of this site (for example, viewing a product page or submitting a general contact form), and may be matched to a Google or Meta advertising profile.

Where these tools are not used: Superior Choice does not place analytics or advertising trackers on online banking, account access, loan servicing, or any other authenticated page where account or transaction information is displayed. Tracking on this site is limited to public marketing pages.

Cookie duration varies by tool: session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies (used by Google and Meta) may remain for up to 13–24 months, consistent with each provider’s published retention periods.

2. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with third-party vendors — including our website hosting provider and analytics and advertising partners such as Google and Meta — who may process information collected through this website on our behalf. These vendors are permitted to use that information only to provide services to Superior Choice and are not authorized to use it for their own independent purposes, except as each vendor’s own privacy policy separately permits (for example, Google’s and Meta’s use of analytics and advertising data across their own platforms, as described in Section 1).

Loan payments made through our Make A Payment link are processed by Alacriti Payments LLC (Platform Provider), a third-party payment processor. Once you click through, you are on their site, and their terms and privacy policy apply.

Superior Choice does not sell website visitor information to third parties.

3. How We Protect Your Information

Superior Choice uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information collected through this website from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure — consistent with the information security standards described in our GLBA Privacy Notice. These measures may include encryption of data in transit, restricted employee access on a need-to-know basis, and ongoing monitoring of our systems for unauthorized activity.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security, and we encourage you to take reasonable precautions when sharing information online.

4. How to Opt Out

You can limit or stop tracking on this site through any of the following:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, or alert you before a site sets one, in the browser’s privacy or security settings.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) to prevent GA4 from collecting your data on any site.
  • Google Ads: manage or turn off ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ads: manage ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences/ (or Instagram’s equivalent ad settings).
  • Industry opt-out tools: Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) and Network Advertising Initiative (networkadvertising.org/choices) let you opt out of interest-based advertising across many companies at once.

Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control: This site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. Where required by applicable state law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC).

Opting out through these tools stops interest-based tracking but does not stop cookies required for the site to function, and it will not affect communications you’ve separately agreed to receive as a member.

5. Your Data Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the information this website collects about you through cookies and similar tools. These rights are separate from, and in addition to, any rights you have as a credit union member under the GLBA Privacy Notice.

  • Right to know / access: request a summary of the categories of information we’ve collected about you through this website and how it has been used.
  • Right to delete: request deletion of information collected through this website, subject to what we’re required to keep for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or regulatory recordkeeping purposes (financial institutions are required to retain many records for a set number of years regardless of a deletion request).
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: Superior Choice does not sell website visitor information. Use of analytics and advertising cookies as described above may be considered “sharing” for advertising purposes under some state laws — see the opt-out options above to limit this.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you services or charge different rates for exercising any of these rights.

California residents: You have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended. Note that information we collect, use, and disclose under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Regulation P — i.e., your member financial data — is separately regulated and generally excluded from CCPA; the rights above apply to website-level data such as cookies and analytics.

How to submit a request: Email help@superiorchoice.com or call 715-392-5616. We may need to verify your identity before processing a request, and will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally within 45 days). You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

6. Governing Law

This Online Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, and any dispute arising from it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wisconsin.

If you live in a state with its own privacy law that grants you rights beyond what’s described above, that state’s law governs those specific rights with respect to your information, and we will honor requests made under it.
